What Is Policosanol?
Policosanol is a natural mixture of long-chain aliphatic primary alcohols (C24–C34), predominantly octacosanol, obtained mainly from sugarcane wax and other plant waxes. In its natural state, policosanol appears as a white crystalline powder that is non-polar or insoluble in water.
Chemical Formula: CH₃–(CH₂)ₙ–CH₂OH, where n varies to produce alcohols with different chain lengths.
